About EU GREEN
EU GREEN - What does it mean?
Learning from each other and improving together
The European University alliance for sustainability: responsible GRowth, inclusive Education and ENvironment (EU GREEN) brings together regionally anchored but globally oriented medium-sized universities from all over Europe, each focusing on a specific type of sustainability-related topic. EU GREEN is therefore to be seen as a catalyst and fertile ground and offers the enormous opportunity to carry existing research, teaching, innovation and sustainability developments beyond the locations into the EU and to develop them further.
9 partners - 9 tasks - 1 goal
In addition to OVGU Magdeburg, universities from Sweden, Ireland, France, Portugal, Spain, Italy, Poland and Romania are partners in the EU GREEN University Alliance. The main topics are divided into a total of nine working areas in order to exchange experiences and further develop them as effectively as possible with the respective experts. Each partner is primarily responsible for one working area. As such, Magdeburg leads the "Communication, Dissemination and Impact" area and, together with SAP UCC, is developing the Greenworks infrastructure - a virtual marketplace for educational, research and administrative resources of the EU GREEN Alliance.
At the local level, the work areas of university stakeholders from all sectors are thus being shaped at each partner location. These work results, synergies & impulses for new projects in e.g. teaching, research or student mobility are then discussed and implemented in the higher-level committees at European level, for sustainable institutionalization and internationalization.
Whether you are an employee, researcher or student - together WE can create the university structure of tomorrow!
The GREEN Team at OVGU
Local EU GREEN offices have been set up as a point of contact for interested parties, initial contacts and as a "direct line" to the partner universities, coordinating the work areas at the locations and communicating concerns or information both internally and externally in a targeted manner. The EU GREEN team at OVGU coordinates the local activities in Magdeburg. Click here for the EU GREEN Team @ OVGU.
How is the whole thing to be implemented?
EU GREEN is therefore not only aimed at employees, researchers and students of the university partners, but also at the respective locations, their regions, economies and inhabitants. By offering a broader and more international range of educational opportunities, OVGU will become more attractive for national and international students and lecturers, which in turn will revitalize the campus itself as a space for research and innovative ideas. The transfer of research results, sustainable innovations and ultimately specialist staff to the city and region will ultimately build a bridge to a living understanding of the European idea. The following overview shows the organizational structures at EU level and at university level.
