Successful WP 3 research Conference in Ireland
Bridging Gaps in Research and Education
From June 17-19, Atlantic Technological University (ATU) welcomed over 100 delegates from across Europe to the second edition of the EU GREEN Alliance Research Week. The first edition, which took place in June 2023 in Angers, France, was the first face-to-face meeting of the Research Work Package. This year's event brought together all nine universities, who worked together on the theme "Briding Gaps: How to drive collaboration in research and education?".
During the three-day event, the progress made by the EU GREEN partners over the past year was presented and their contributions to tackling sustainability challenges through research were highlighted. Key discussions focused on the integration of research and education, with plans for the next steps in the Alliance's six thematic clusters, the Joint Research Committee and the PhD Council. The aim will be to share best practice and create opportunities for collaboration between the EU GREEN universities.
Led by the University of Angers (France) and the University of Parma (Italy), this initiative will foster links between researchers across the EU GREEN network. Various instruments have been created to facilitate this collaboration, including mobility funds, seed funding and joint supervision of doctoral programs.
Claire Manceau, Head of the European project division at University of Angers and WP3 leader, said «We are honoured to convene for the second time with our European university partners at ATU as part of EU GREEN for collaborative engagement. As the lead partner for the «Structuring Research-Based Excellence Clusters» work package, our goal is to establish a collaborative network among our universities while preserving the connection between research and education within the broader context of sustainability».
